Every time someone calls Glossier the “cool girl” skin care brand, creator Emily Weiss gets her wings. Through their ubiquitous millennial pink branding, minimalist packaging, and a booming social media presence, Glossier (pronounced like “dossier”) has certainly broken into the beauty market with a bang. I’ve tried a handful of products from the brand and wanted to share my three current faves, as well as a couple that missed the mark for me.
I like to think that for about 75% of the year I have fairly normal skin; not oily or dry, maybe the occasional spot, but for the most part it’s not a problem. When the air starts to dry out, wind picks up, and I start spending a few hours in a packed commuter train to get to work, I start to veer into that other 25% of the year. My hyperpigmentation becomes more obvious, my skin feels dry and tired, and it needs a helping hand. So, in anticipation of those harsher winter months, I’ve kicked my skincare routine into overdrive for the last month. Here’s what I do every day to keep my skin healthy and happy! Continue reading
If you’ve been following me on Instagram (which you definitely should), you know I’ve been going through my first Whole30. It’s definitely had its ups and downs, but today marks day 15, and I feel like things are finally smoothing out. I wanted to give an update halfway through my Whole30 to talk about some of the benefits I’ve been feeling, as well as some of the downsides, and a few recipes that have completely saved my butt this month.
Because you guys seemed to really enjoy my last “High-End vs. Drugstore” post where I pitted the Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Spray against the L’Oreal Quick Dry Primer (verdict? I repurchased the Redken spray, but L’Oreal’s was a great budget friendly option), I wanted to do another comparison post. Today I’m taking on the increasingly popular art of contouring.
I had my eyes on the Naked Flushed palette since it debuted, and I was particularly interested in the ultra-pigmented shimmery highlight included in the set. As soon as I got my hands on it, I fell in love with the colors (I’ve since hit pan on the bronzer). So when I saw that Maybelline released a new contouring palette that looked strikingly similar to the Naked Flushed, I thought I’d give it a whirl.
For some reason, Empties round ups always seem to hold more weight for me than a Favorites or Haul post. There’s something very satisfying to me about collecting my empty containers. And knowing that someone I’m following has actually gone through an entire container/bottle/package of something and is then reviewing it, rather than just making a snap judgement based on packaging (guilty) means I’ll trust their input and advice.
